We Rebranded!

Why did you rebrand?

Our goal was never to impact only one village.

For a decade, we operated in the United States under the name Bandhwari Women's Project, named after the Bandhwari Village, where our operations in India were based. We loved the way that our name highlighted the women that we work to help. While we never thought we would change our name, we began to realize it would be necessary as our mission expanded. Women around the world need economic independence and freedom, and our new mission and vision statements reflect that (you can read those in our About Us page).

Our work in India has not changed. Her Hands International will still be supporting the artisans in Bandhwari by selling their products in the US market, the same way we have always done. The only difference is that now Bandhwari Women's Project will be one product line under the Her Hands International name.

Another benefit to this name and branding change is brand clarity. Our partners in India sell a different line of Bandhwari products, ones that are oriented towards an Indian market. Customers ran into confusion on the differences between the Bandhwari India and Bandhwari USA branches. Now it will be clearer: Her Hands International sells Bandhwari products to the US market. If you see social media handles or websites called Bandhwari, that's our partners in India.

Why Her Hands International?

When considering our new name, it was important for us to continue to highlight the women that our non-profit is focused on helping. Given the artisan nature of their work, we felt that Her Hands would be an appropriate name. The International part was also important to us, as the catalyst for this change was our expanding mission and vision for this nonprofit. Thus, we settled on Her Hands International for the name.
