About Us

Empowering Women, Celebrating Craftsmanship

Her Hands International grew from a simple idea: when women have the skills, resources, and opportunity to earn an income, they can build stronger futures for themselves and their communities.

Our story began in Bandhwari, a village in northern India, through the Bandhwari Women’s Project. Originally launched as an initiative of the Incentive Foundation, the project was created to equip local women with the skills and resources needed to pursue sustainable livelihoods and greater financial independence. What began as a local effort soon grew into a cross-continental initiative, with the establishment of The Bandhwari Women’s Project Inc. in the United States.

At the heart of the project has always been the belief that economic opportunity can create lasting change. Women are trained in traditional craftsmanship, including stitching and embroidery, while creating products from recycled fabrics. Each piece reflects the skill, creativity, and resourcefulness of the woman who made it while giving new life to materials that might otherwise go to waste.

Today, that work continues through Her Hands International.

As our vision has grown, so has our name. Her Hands International represents our commitment to bringing the same model of empowerment, craftsmanship, and economic opportunity to women beyond Bandhwari. While our roots remain an important part of who we are, our future is global.

From the hands of artisans to the communities they support, every piece carries a story of possibility. We are building a world where women have the opportunity to turn their skills into sustainable livelihoods and create a future on their own terms.
